Stranger in the night

Aw gods, I couldn't believe it happened...! Not that I didn't know it wouldn't happen, since it was bound to happen one of these days, but it happened yesterday... erh, Saturday night, to be exact. Gods, and I was just thinking of this one guy on the way home that Saturday -- usual wonderings of where he is, what's he doing, is he married or what.

Then, as I was walking to the trike terminal, there was this guy who I mentioned before in an earlier entry, the one who kinda maybe courted me before...? Yeah, him. I remember him, but when I met him two nights ago, I said I didn't. Heck, if I had said otherwise, I would have been engaged in a conversation with him far longer than I did when I said I didn't remember him. I don't know how convincing I was, but I must have been convincing enough since my sister who was with me at that time, took up the decided lack of conversation from my part.

Gods, and he was loud in proclaiming he knew me. It was like he was shouting it out for everyone to know that he knew me. He really must want attention to be that loud.

Somehow, I just know that if it had been someone else that night or someone else I met that same night aside from him, someone from my grade school class, I would have reacted differently. I definitely remember my grade school classmates, even if some of the names and faces escape me at the moment, but I do know them to some extent. I would have acknowledged them, especially if it was Kuya Dennis, since he is my cousin and all.

"Training has already started, but we're going to catch you up."

hehehe

That was what the COO told us, the recent batch of trainees in the company that I applied to. I'm still of two minds whether to accept the training or not. It sounds okay, I guess, but they're not giving the trainees any allowance, which I believe is against the law as stated in the Labor Code... somewhere inside that thick tome, book II, I think.

So anyway... I guess I'm not going hehehe Cool.

And I just received an email from another company so I guess I'll call them and set up an appointment for exam and interviews. *sigh* I have to review my books now, methinks.

What else is new?

I want to get a haircut, something short but not too short that I can't put my hair up in a ponytail, my most prefered mode of hairstyle since it's easier and convenient all around.

Isolation, Insulation

Funny how detached I can be. I don't know if it's truth or something like forced truth, but I oftentimes feel like if I will myself to feel or be a certain way, I can be like that for a long time. Other times, I have to coach myself continuously to be something else. I suppose it's sort of an escape or masking, since I try not to show who I am and what I am to outsiders. It can be tiring but exciting, but frightening if I think about it too much -- how do I know that the persona I am to this person is who I am in reality?

I think it's the late hour affecting my thought processes. I was actually just going to comment on some of the entires I read in my friends' blogs. Topics ranged from familial relationship to platonic relationship to romantic relationship. Relationships.

Familial.

Gods, it sucks to be an orphan, but at the same it, it's sort of freeing. Not that I wish my parents dead -- though they already are (morbid!) -- but it's different growing up without them than with them. I imagine if my mother was still alive when I was in college, I would have taken a different course, maybe even gone to a different school, and I wouldn't be friends with my friends, and I wouldn't have been moulded into who and what I think I am today.

Did that make sense?

I think it did.

Platonic.

Friends I have a number of. Close friends, I have a handful of. Best friends, kinda conditional, honestly. I mean, define a best friend. Usually, he/she has to have known you the longest. With that criterion, I can remove my neighbours and GS classmates and cousins, since I don't have any kind of interaction with them that could remotely be called "best friendly" type. Gah, I don't even see my GS classmates now.

Share secrets. Sorry, I don't trust people that easily. I can say that some people know my secrets but my deepest secrets, I will take to my grave. Soon. *cue evile laughter*

Romantic.

Gah. Do I have to?

Okay, nearest approximation to a romantic relationship that I may have... hmm... back in college, summer (of course it has to be a summer for it to be so cliche), there was this guy. I didn't know him before, I mean, I haven't seen him before that time (come to think of it, I haven't seen him since then too), so I have no idea who he is, what kind of person he is. Some said he was this player, and since I was kind of the new kid, I caught his attention.

Gah, this is embarassing.

So anyway, I admit, in hindsight, that I was way over my head right from the beginning, being the new kid and all. He kinda got it into his head that we already had this thing going on. (You have no idea how mortifying this is right now for me.)

I guess he was kinda okay looking... definitely not David-like or Russell-like or (thank the whole universe of gods!) James-like, but he was okay. He seemed popular with the other girls anyway, and some were being catty and saying that he dumped them callously before so I should watch out. Silly me, right?

He brought me to his parent's house and introduced me to them... well, to his father and brother in any case.

hehehe

Gods, when word got out that I was supposed to be with him, the neightbours all got real interested, rumor-mongers that they are. I imagine there were a few rumors about me being pregnant, on and off, depending on how often they see me, but hey, what do I care? I'm just thankful I'm out of that circuit.

Bottom line, I have a pathetic and nonexistent love-life.

So why these topics?

Dunno. Just felt like writing them all down, and I guess the impetus came from my friends' blogs. It isn't often that I can become introspective or anything... ah well, even the mighty fall, aye?

Baguio Weekend

hehehe

I went up to Baguio last Saturday. Technically, it was Friday nearing midnight that we left -- my sister and I (I know, I know, I rant about her all the time but what the hell, she came up with the idea, and I only had to come up with the money for the food!) -- and we arrived in Baguio at around 5 AM. Way cold. But fun.

We did the usual tourist thing and went to Mine's View Park; there weren't that many people there that time in the morning so it was great. Then we went to PMA, visit the nephew. I don't know if it was a good thing or not, but a Vice Admiral was there with some ceremony or another, so we stayed for the whole parade thing at Boromeo.

Hmm... I was actually thinking about Countdown when I was up there hehehe Maybe I can get some more ideas so I can finally finish that darned thing!

We took the longest time there since dearest nephew couldn't entertain us until well after lunch.

Anyway, after that, we had to go the Pink Sister Convent. Cookies! Really delicious, by the way.

Then back to the Market to get some stuff, then early dinner over at Don Henrico's... which reminds me, she keeps saying that she treated me to Don Henrico's before when I was in college, and I can't bloody well remember it! Dang, and she said I had two whole platters of onion rings then.

So, our trip back was on the 1120 bus, and we stayed over 3 hours, I think, at the bus station. Which wasn't so bad, if it wasn't so darned cold!

Bring in the Dogs!

2006! It's the year of the dog! I was born in the year of the horse. Are they friends? Enemies? Allies?

Who cares?

Everyone really should just find ways to get along with each other. It's a relatively small place we live in, and we really should be considerate enough of the other's needs, as they should be considerate of our needs. It's not all about giving, people, it's about a reciprocation of action, something that should have the betterment and advancement of the whole as a goal.

No altruism in this world, aye?
