I haven't been to my former office in Makati since I resigned. I didn't know that to expect when I got there but it certainly wasn't what I got.
See, when I resigned I was told that I could come back after 45 to 60 days to get my last pay et al papers that they owed me, i.e., 2316. I called first, of course, and I talked to the HR Generalist. She said to call after the 15th so she could have something definite to tell me, which I did. I called on the 16th and she said I could pick my check up that Friday, which was the 19th. So I told her I'd come by on the morning on my way to work. She said OK.
When I got there on Friday, she told me the check was just being prepared and it would be released at 3:00 p.m. and would I just come back then.
...
Huh. I have work until 8:00 p.m. I told her that. And I said she told me it would be okay to come pick the check up that day. Know what she said?
She said it was my fault since I DID NOT ASK HER WHAT TIME IT WOULD BE READY.
Of all the incompetent and inefficient...!
I was really tempted to either deck her or offer to buy her an appointment book and pen so she could jot down what time and the names and intentions of the people she's supposed to meet with on what day and time!
When I asked the guard to let her know I was already there waiting, she asked the guard what I was there for.
Gah, can you believe her, that Generalist...!
Around 2:30 p.m. I called them up again to ask her if the check was ready and the guard told me they'd already left. All of the HR, already left. Hmm... Guess their shift ended at 2:00 p.m., which means they started at 6:00 a.m...
I talked instead to someone in Finance and she said was ready (Gah... how much effort does it take to sign a check?! Coz that's what the effing Generalist told me, it hasn't been signed yet. Guess they needed, what, 6 hours to find a working pen...) No wonder the other HR people there wouldn't look me in the eye when they saw me outside.
I asked the one in Finance if it would be ready for pick-up on Monday at 9:00 a.m. and she said yes.
It had better be.
